- Transfer Pricing team receives prestigious global ranking
Grant Thornton South Africa was recently awarded a Tier 2 ranking by the UK-based International Tax Review, in its annual directory of leading transfer pricing advisory firms around the world.
The directory aims to serve as a key source for tax executives navigating the sea of changes in tax regimes and in need of transfer pricing-specific services, according to the International Tax Review.
The publication reviews the transfer pricing capability of firms in 51 regions around the world, and ranks these firms according to their client base into one of four tiers. The reviews are conducted through interviews with corporate tax and transfer pricing directors and their advisers and cover the scope, quality and impact of work done in a given year.
All interviewed firms are required to comment on their competitors’ capability. In addition, certain corporate clients are interviewed as well, in an effort to obtain a comprehensive opinion on the firm’s excellence in transfer pricing.
“We are delighted to have been awarded a Tier 2 ranking in the first year that we have been recognised in this directory by the globally respected International Tax Review. This ranking is especially important to us as it is based on our peers’ and clients’ review of our work and services capability,” said AJ Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen, Partner: Tax Services at Grant Thornton.
The criteria for a Tier 2 ranking is that the firm needs to have a leading reputation in their jurisdiction, alongside a varied portfolio of work and it has to offer a range of transfer pricing services.
Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen concluded: “Given the importance of transfer pricing in global tax developments, this ranking is testament to our firm and country’s leadership in ascribing to global best practice in our efforts to curb base erosion and profit shifting.”
