Grant Thornton reinforces expansion strategy as 11th office opens in Somerset West
Grant Thornton Winelands to provide enhanced client service offering in region
Grant Thornton Cape announced this morning that a new office has been opened in Somerset West to provide key professional services to the greater Winelands District including Boland, Gordon’s Bay, Strand and Grabouw areas.
The new office – Grant Thornton Winelands - is the global audit, tax and business advisory firm’s 11th office in South Africa, further strengthening its national footprint and client services offering throughout SA. Grant Thornton Winelands will be led by Grant Thornton Associate Director Carin Grobbelaar providing a range of specialist services including Outsourcing, Trust and Estate Services and Tax Advisory to companies and individuals in the region.
“We are delighted to open our new office in Somerset West. The region was specifically selected because it is perfectly aligned to current and potential client needs. Growth and expansion are core to our strategic development plan,” says Ian Scott, CEO of Grant Thornton Cape.
Scott adds that Somerset West is the perfect location for a new office because of the Winelands District’s recent rapid growth with a large number of high net worth individuals relocating to this region and major increase in the development of new businesses – both industrial and corporate. According to data from Census 2011, the Winelands District is the second largest economy in the Western Cape, following the City of Cape Town. Somerset West is also becoming an increasingly desirable residential suburb attracting a diverse range of South Africans such as young families, entrepreneurs, retirees and all-round go getters.
Carin Grobbelaar, the head of Grant Thornton Winelands says: “Our new office is most definitely going to be a valuable asset in the Grant Thornton fold. Some of our existing clients who are based in the Winelands District will enjoy the proximity of our new premises. In addition, bringing our local expertise combined with global skills and quality processes to the region will be extremely beneficial to the businesses in the area. We look forward to helping new clients unlock those parts of their businesses that have the potential to grow.”
The new addition in Somerset West further reinforces Grant Thornton’s position as fifth largest professional services firm in South Africa (ranked by fee income) according to the November 2014 International Accounting Bulletin (IAB) SA survey. In October 2014, Grant Thornton South Africa was awarded the title of Audit / Accounting firm of the year for 2014, at the inaugural South African Professional Services Awards (SAPSA) ceremony.
“Grant Thornton Winelands brings a host of professional services to the doorstep of many new entrepreneurial clients in the region. Clients will be the clear winners here as we deliver personal senior executive attention and expertise as our differentiating approach,” Scott concludes.
