Shaakira was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court in 2019.

She completed her articles in a firm specialising in Insolvency law, Business Rescue and Restructuring in Gauteng. Shaakira was promoted to Associate in her firm after being admitted and was immediately assigned to manage the Business Rescue and Restructuring Department. Shaakira joined SNG Grant Thornton within the firm’s Financial Services Division in 2022.

Shaakira completed the SARIPA qualification in Insolvency law with distinctions in 2019 and was involved in various high-value Business Rescue and Restructuring matters from 2017 where she gained extensive and invaluable experience in the local Business Rescue and Insolvency sphere.

She is currently on a virtual secondment to the Recovery & Reorganisation Division of the Grant Thornton member firm in the Channel Islands where she is being exposed to various complex cross-border and international restructuring and liquidations matters involving various jurisdictions including the Channel Islands, British Virgin Islands, Qatar, UK, Brazil, Belgium and Cyprus.

LLB, Trial advocacy, School for legal practice, Qualification in Insolvency law from the South African Restructuring and Insolvency, SARIPA, Legal Practice Council
