We are inviting applications from qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Chief Executive Officer on behalf of our client, the Municipal Council of Mbabane. The ideal applicant should be a strategic leader with a customer-centric approach, able to achieve results and goals, and possess computer literacy skills to excel in this role.

The ability to foster sound relationships between management and internal stakeholders is vital in this role. The position is responsible for the smooth administration of the entire organisation, planning, delegation, implementation of organisational strategy and managing the performance of Executive Management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the overall Council’s strategy
  • Lead the day-to-day activities of the Council ensuring efficiency of administration and service delivery, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
  • Lead and manage the Senior Management team towards achievement of strategic goals
  • Responsible to the Management Committee (Exco) for the proper carrying out of all directions of the Council and the Management Committee
  • Collaborate and implement all decisions, directives and policies of the Council
  • Provide comprehensive information to the Council and its committees for these bodies to exercise their authority
  • Establish and maintain strategic stakeholder relations
  • Oversee the preparation and approval of the annual budget in line with the organisational strategy and operational plan
  • Ensure the development and implementation of training & development plans, as well as succession plans to empower and reward strong employee performance
  • Oversee the development and implementation of capacity-building programs for the Council
  • Oversee the preparation of performance management reports in respect of the Council as required

Qualification and experience

  • Master’s in Business Administration or Public Management
  • Degree in Urban & Regional Planning or Engineering or Public Administration/Management
  • 10 years experience of which 5 should have been in a managerial position preferably in a similar environment
  • Experience with driving organisational change and high-performance
  • Be a member of a relevant professional body
