The Eswatini Country Coordinating Mechanism (ECCM) acts as a national committee comprising voluntary members responsible for submitting funding applications to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Additionally, it oversees grants on behalf of the country and ensures alignment with the national response. Qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the Communications Officer position on behalf of our client, ECCM. 

  Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an effective communication strategy.
  •  Ensure regular and timely dissemination and communication of information to and from the CCM members, other stakeholders, and the public. 
  • Assist constituencies organize transparent and well-documented elections of their representatives to the CCM.
  • Manage internal communications (memos, newsletters etc.).
  • Draft content (e.g., press releases) for mass media or company website.
  • Organize initiatives and plan events or press conferences.
  • Liaise with media and handle requests for interviews, statements etc.
  • Foster relationships with the CCM constituencies, Government ministries and other stakeholders.
  • Perform “damage control” in cases of bad publicity.
  • Facilitate the resolution of disputes with the public or external vendors.
  • Assist in the communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership.

 

Qualification, Experience & competencies required

  • Degree in Public Relations, Communications, or a relevant field, Postgraduate will be an added advantage.
  •  At least 2 years of working experience in communications in government, national or international programs. 
  • Proven experience as a communications specialist.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles.
  • Experience working with community-based organizations (CSOs involved in community project implementation).
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and planning abilities.
  • Proficient command of English.

Terms & Conditions: One (1) year renewable contract subject to available funds
