Eswatini Development and Savings Bank (Eswatini Bank) is a financial institution wholly owned by the Government of Eswatini. Its business operations include both commercial banking and development finance. It is regulated in terms of the Financial Institutions act.

 To enable the Bank to maintain its high standards of governance and internal management, Eswatini Bank is inviting applications from qualified, experienced and dynamic individuals who will be able to contribute their skills, judgement and innovation to the management team. The mission of the Internal Audit department is to provide independent and objective assurance and to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of control and governance.

The EM Internal Audit will be responsible for all functions of the department, reporting and management of the Internal Audit team. The post participates in the Executive Committee.

Key Performance Areas 

  • Development, execution, and timely completion of risk-based audit plans and procedures. 
  • Coordinate functional and long-term corporate objectives. 
  • Assess processes and the effectiveness of controls within key processes. 
  • Coordinate with outside auditors, as necessary. 
  • Ensure audit engagement quality, including adherence to department policies and procedures. 
  • Risks are appropriately identified and managed. 
  • Significant financial, managerial, and operating information is accurate, reliable, and timely. 
  • Timely achievement of plans and objectives. 
  • Quality and continuous improvement are incorporated in the bank’s control process. 
  • Legislative or regulatory issues impacting the bank are recognized and addressed. 
  • Managing portfolio of assigned audit objects including staffing, scheduling, coordination and ensuring completion of the audit program. 
  • Drafting high-quality audit reports with minimal oversight. 
  • Opportunities for improving management control and bank profitability are identified and communicated. 

 Required Qualifications and Exposure 

  • Degree in finance and must have completed articles with a recognised auditing firm.
  • CIA, ACCA or CA(SA) professional qualification is a must.
  • At least 5 years experience in a managerial role in financial services.
  • Knowledge of forensic auditing is desired.
  • Exposure to systems and procedures in commercial and development banks in Southern Africa.
