On behalf of our client in the logistics industry, we are pleased to invite applications from highly motivated, innovative, and experienced legal professionals for the position of Head of Legal Services/Legal Advisor.
Job Purpose
The primary objective of this role is to render comprehensive legal counsel to internal stakeholders and the Board of Directors, encompassing the drafting of legal instruments, the formulation of legally sound solutions, the facilitation of commercial negotiations, and the provision of legal guidance on both strategic and operational matters. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
Main Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic Legal Business Partner to the organisation.
- Advise Executive Management and the Board of Directors on legal matters, including those related to corporate governance.
- Prepare and draft legal opinions, memoranda, and briefing documents to support decision-making, ensure legal compliance, and provide guidance on complex legal issues.
- Monitor legal developments, including legislative changes and judicial precedents, and advise management accordingly.
- Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on complex legal matters.
- Draft, review, and approve business agreements and contracts prior to submission to regulatory authorities, the Board, or relevant government bodies.
- Liaise with external legal counsel on all legal matters, ensuring alignment and consistency.
- Monitor the status and performance of all ongoing legal proceedings and provide support to external counsel where necessary.
- Represent the organisation in multi-stakeholder forums and external engagements requiring legal expertise.
- Conduct compliance audits for the organisation and implement measures to ensure adherence to applicable legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure organisational adherence to the Code of Ethics for the organisation.
- Prepare and present compliance and ethics reports to the Board.
- Develop, maintain, and update the legal risk register.
- Oversee the efficient operation of the legal office, ensuring integration of modern ICT tools and adherence to quality management systems.
- Lead and manage the legal function in alignment with best practices in legal operations and governance.
- Lead and inspire a diverse team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration.

- Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
- Admitted Attorney of the High Court of Eswatini.
- Master’s degree in law would serve as an added advantage
- Confirmation of good standing with the Law Society of Eswatini.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in legal or law-related role with 5 years in a management role, preferably within a regulated environment.
- In-depth understanding of the Court’s legal procedures and government regulations.
