Media release embargoed until 01 September 2020

Former KPMG Eswatini is joining SNG Grant Thornton, effective 01 September 2020. SNG Grant Thornton is a member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd (GTIL).

Grant Thornton is a global network of independent assurance, tax, and advisory firms made up of more than 56,000 people in 143 countries.
SNG Grant Thornton, the largest home-grown audit and advisory firm in Southern Africa has 12 offices across South Africa. This opportunity cements the position of the firm in the Southern Africa market through joining forces with the former KPMG Eswatini practice.

With an unmatched track record built up over more than 50 years, KPMG has been a respected key player in the Kingdom of Eswatini, delivering unique and sustainable value to its clients. The firm’s long-standing presence, influence in the market and growth ambitions, are some of the commonalities shared by the two firms, as they embark on a new journey of working together to grow their collective position in the professional services market in the Southern African region.

This landmark development combines the strength and experience of KPMG in Eswatini and SNG Grant Thornton’s footprint and expertise. It marks a significant growth milestone that will provide a unique advantage to clients. The newly refreshed and re-branded firm in Eswatini will provide an extension of professional capabilities, positioning the firm to deliver even greater value to clients in the kingdom.

Victor Sekese, Chief Executive of SNG Grant Thornton, commented: “This is a significant milestone for the firm and we are excited that our growth ambitions are being realised through a combination of another like-minded firm. We are delighted about the immense possibilities ahead of us and we are determined to provide a truly distinctive client experience in Southern Africa”.

Robert Sithebe, the Managing Partner of the Eswatini firm, commented:
“We are pleased to be linking up with SNG Grant Thornton. This will strengthen our capability and capacity in key service areas in Eswatini. Our strong audit business in Eswatini together with SNG Grant Thornton specialists and strength in Advisory will provide new opportunities for clients in both countries.

The rebranding of the practice is an exciting development, one which will transform the Eswatini firm and make it part of a growing, respected professional services brand. This is a great outcome for all of us, our employees and our clients, and will enhance and leverage our experience and expertise as we look to extend the proud record of success which the office has achieved over many decades.”
