Eswatini Standards Authority (SWASA) is a parastatal under the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade auspices. SWASA is mandated to promote standards and quality in the local industry, commerce and the public sector and empowers the Authority to be the sole custodian of all issues regarding standards and quality in Eswatini. SWASA seeks to recruit a qualified candidate for the Executive Director position. 

 

Job Purpose 

To provide the strategic direction, oversight and leadership for the Authority, detailing the short, medium- and long-term strategies and delivery thereof to achieve the mandate of the Authority. Also has the responsibility for the growth, development and high performance of the Authority to meet the Authority’s objectives and expectations of stakeholders and clients.

 

Main Functions

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of an integrated strategy enabling the Authority to achieve its mandate
  • Identify other strategic opportunities for the growth of the Authority, including amongst others investment opportunities
  • Identify the key challenges facing the Authority and design appropriate strategies and interventions to achieve business goals
  • Provide strategic support to the Executive team and inspire them to deliver key performance indicators  
  • Develop strategies to grow gross revenue
  • Ensure that risk management strategy is in place and compliance is effectively managed
  • Provide leadership and define reporting structures for the Authority
  • Ensure the Authority partakes in the expansion of new markets, growth and diversification of the Eswatini economic landscape.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering 
  • Master’s degree in business administration/ Business Leadership
  • Seven (7) years of managerial experience in trade and standardization 
  • Understanding World Trade Organization, Technical Barriers to Trade functions
  • Understanding Global Regulatory and Technical/ Quality Infrastructure
  • Understanding of the International, Regional and National Trade/ TBT Agreements
  • Understanding Global Standardization in relation to Trade 
  • Knowledge of Standards and Quality Principles
  • Understanding of National Quality Infrastructure
