Prof Ahmed Bawa

Prof Ahmed Bawa

Professor Ahmed Bawa, a theoretical physicist, currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of Universities South Africa (USAf). In this capacity, he is a member of the Board of Directors of USAf – the representative association of all 26 public universities of South Africa. Until April 2016, Professor Bawa was Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the Durban University of Technology. From 2012-2013 he was chair of Higher Education South Africa (HESA) which became USAf in July 2015. Professor Bawa has been a recipient of many awards and he is well known for advocating universities’ responsiveness to their local contexts.

Khanyisa is currently serving as the Head of Tax division at SNG Grant Thornton She graduated from the University of Cape Town (UCT) and is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA, SA). She completed her training with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) and since then has spent more than 10 years of her work experience specializing in Tax. Khanyisa together with two other colleagues just completed one of GTI’s prestigious leadership training. She regularly participates in industry events and has had opportunities of providing Tax insights and opinions on various media platforms. Khanyisa’s passion for innovation has led to new technology developments within the Tax environment, providing an enormous benefit for our clients and these include, VAT analytical tool and Global tax Compliance Tracker.

Kudakwashe Charandura

Kudakwashe is a seasoned Cyber Security and IT Advisory professional, who has serviced various industries in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Zambia, including Energy and Power companies, Public Sector, Banks, Agricultural, Manufacturing, Mining, Aviation and Telecommunications companies.

Thabo Mogano

Thabo Mogano

Thabo E Mogano is an SNG Grant Thornton Director and the Provincial Leader for Limpopo. He also leads the Education Industry for SNG Grant Thornton. He has over 17 years of experience in accounting, academics and auditing. In his journey, he occupied roles as head of finance for financial service businesses, was a senior lecturer at a SAICA accredited university, senior audit manager and technical manager at Auditor-General South Africa (AGSA). All these roles have helped Thabo to develop professionally, gaining extensive experience in all industries serving as a benchmark in his leadership and strategic roles. He thrives in environments requiring technical application and finding solutions to improve the existing process that encourages efficiency and effectiveness. Thabo is passionate about the development and empowerment of the team he leads and believes that every individual brings unique capabilities. He believes he is an approachable leader, a good listener and who always encourages his team to learn in every experience they come across. His vision for the Education industry is to build a solution-based unit that leads in providing informed solutions that help in risk identification, response and structuring of the institution in order to take advantage of opportunities that exist within the industry.

Mbusi has been operating as a Tax Specialist at Manager level both in the private sector and public sector. He has serviced clients in the banking sector, manufacturing sector, mining sector, retail sector, logistics and government sector as a tax specialist. His duties amongst others involve planning for the assignment; engagement with a client, coordinating the accrual review and reporting to management. Mbusi is also responsible for writing technical opinions; Training clients; engaging with SARS on the client’s behalf relating to objections and any other SARS queries
