Omar Kadwa is a director at SNG Grant Thornton leading advisory projects related to public sector financial reporting as well as assurance projects related to non-financial reporting.

He has a total of 16 years’ experience in Assurance and Advisory with a passion for helping clients achieve their sustainability and reporting goals, promoting diversity, enabling innovation and inspiring teams to deliver exceptional client service.

Experience

Over the last few years, he has been an integral part of the SNG-Grant Thornton team, advising auditors on the correct interpretation and application of various reporting frameworks and legislation.

Prior to this, Omar was with the Auditor-General, he has served as the lead technical specialist to the following sectors: Metro municipalities, health, education, public works, human settlements, social development, water & sanitation, treasury, legislatures and local government.

Omar actively participates in various committees with standard setters and regulators in the accounting, auditing and sustainability space.

Omar is an innovative thinker and experienced in formulating assurance methodologies and strategies. He has been instrumental in the development and roll-out of the SNG-Grant Thornton audit methodology.
